One year ago today, I was experiencing my first day in Japan with my BFF’s🇯🇵
I am feeling a little sad and sentimental today because it was honestly a trip of a lifetime and I think about it at least 5 times every day.
I know this isn’t even remotely photography related, but I though it would be fun to relive my trip and recap my top 5 favourite memories from our trip to Japan!⛩
It was hard narrowing down but here we go,
1. The Cup Noodles Museum ramen making experience in Yokohama
2. Gotokuji Temple aka The Lucky Cat Shrine
3. Staying at a Traditional Japanese Ryokan in Lake Kawaguchi
4. teamLab Planets, an interactive art experience in Tokyo
5. The deer in Nara
Honorable mentions...
Karaoke, all the amazing anime stores, the mini pig cafe in Harajuku and all the the shrines and tori gates we got to explore!
We are hoping to maybe get back to Japan in a few years because we loved it so much. In the meantime if you need me I will be looking at our thousands of photos and reminiscing.🍙
Is there a trip you went on that lives in your head rent free? Tell me all about it in the comments!👇🏻

Are you considering a first look for your wedding day?👀
Let me tell you why you definitely SHOULD do one!
But first, what even is a first look? It is when the couple sees each other before the wedding ceremony and their are SO many benefits to why this is a positive for your special day.
And I have been a wedding photographer for 12 years, so I promise I know what I am talking about.
The biggest benefit to having a first look is that it is going to simplify your day and your timeline soooo much!
This is because you will be able to do all of your couples and wedding party portraits before your ceremony even happens.
So when your ceremony is over all you have to worry about are family photos and then you get to head to your cocktail hour and mingle with your guests!
Although, simplifying your timeline is the number one benefit of a first look there are so many others...
1. You get to have a private moment with just the two of you when you see each other for the first time on your wedding day.
2. A first look is also a great time to do your private vows to one another.
3. You get to actually attend your cocktail hour and spend more time with your guests.
4. The majority of your photos will already be done before the ceremony.
The benefits go on and on!
So tell me, if you are planning your wedding are you considering a first look? Or if you are already married, did you do one at your wedding? Sound off in the comments!👇🏻

Wedding advice you didn’t ask for but need...from a wedding photographer of 12 years📷
Part 3!!
As a wedding photographer of 12 years AND a past bride, I can guarantee the advice I have will actually be useful to all you planning couples out there!
Wedding advice you didn’t ask for but need...part three!
1. Get a custom hanger for your dress or at least a wooden hanger.
2. Have your officiant announce for guests to take photos for a minute before your ceremony begins. This allows your guests to get a ceremony photo and then put their phones away.
3. Remind Groom and Groomsmen to empty their pockets.
4. Have all details in one spot so that when your photographer arrives they can photograph them quickly.
Be sure to hit that save for later button and come back next week for the last part of this mini series, part 4!🤗
